Debate
Overview
Our program features experienced, trained adult instructors who teach debaters using an innovative and engaging curriculum. Developed by a Seattle University professor and award-winning debate coach, our curriculum has been refined through years of experience working with middle school students.
Our activity-based approach helps students quickly build their skills, deepen their understanding, and gain confidence. New students learn step by step in the first two classes and have a guided first debate beginning four practice debates. Returning students receive advanced argument strategies and do drills to improve and follow those first two classes with debates and advanced feedback. All students receive extensive, individualized feedback from our instructors to help them improve.
NEW this year! We are also planning a special additional series of workshops for students who choose to participate in the Seattle University Debate Event. These workshops will give students extra coaching and practice to strengthen their skills and help them be as competitive as possible.
Help your student become a stronger communicator, build confidence, develop friendships, and experience the excitement of striving to do their very best. Join our Debate Program and help your student discover what they can achieve!
Expected 15 to 30 minutes preparation for each class after the first class session.
