Physics Olympiad
The EMS Physics Olympiad Club gives students a chance to explore physics through two national competitions: the F=ma Physics Olympiad exam and the US Physics Bowl. It's a low-pressure way to challenge yourself, get a taste of competition-level physics, and see whether it's something you'd like to pursue further in high school.

Eligibility
Open to all grade levels (6th–8th) — and anyone interested in exploring physics. Please note this is a high school–level event; treat it as an opportunity to explore the subject and decide whether it's something you'd like to continue in high school.
Information & Key Dates
- Registration Fee: $25 — club fees are used to register each student for both the F=ma Physics Olympiad exam and the US Physics Bowl.
- Registration Deadline: December 31, 2026
- Test dates, times, and locations will be announced in December, once they're officially published by the respective organizations (AAPT). All registered students and their families will be notified by email as soon as those dates are confirmed.
- The 2027 F=ma Exam is expected in February 2027.
- The 2027 US Physics Bowl is expected in late March or early April 2027.
Please Note — Important Scheduling Caution
Both exams are administered on a single, specific date and time set by AAPT. There are no alternate dates or make-up options for either test. Once dates are published, students will have at least a month (typically more) to prepare and plan around the scheduled date, so please build these into your family calendar early to avoid conflicts.
Coaching
At this time, no additional coaching from local high school physics clubs is planned. The club is currently focused on registration, logistics, and self-directed preparation using past exams (see below). This may evolve, so watch this page for updates.
