Chess
Overview:
For the 2025-26 school year, the EMS PTSA will partner with “All About Chess” to offer an Online After School Enrichment Chess Club for EMS students. This is a PTSA sponsored afterschool enrichment activity and not part of any school classes related to EMS.
About the program
All About Chess is excited to be offering an online chess program at Evergreen Middle School starting this fall. We take time to get to know our students and provide extra assistance wherever we can. In a typical class we do a structured lesson, then students practice what we have been learning with games against their peers, chess puzzles, and fun variant chess games. In more advanced classes we can do a simulated tournament and other more advanced activities including introducing higher level positional concepts. Sportsmanship is stressed throughout the class as well as thinking about our actions before we make them and making good choices.
