Pass the Hat Fundraiser

Supporting your children's education

Dear Evergreen Junior High Parent:

We would like to welcome returning families and also welcome our new ones.  As we start the new year, rushing around buying school clothes and supplies, we'd like to take a moment of your time to encourage you to participate in Evergreen's major PTSA fundraiser for the year, PASS THE HAT. In these difficult economic times, and with the major cuts made by our school district and the state, the need for our PTSA to support programs is greater than ever before.  Our goal is to only ask you once to donate so we can meet the short fall and support our children.

Funds raised through PASS THE HAT will help support the following programs, which benefit all the students who attend Evergreen Jr. High.

  • School Assemblies
  • Success Fund
  • Educational Enrichment
  • EJH Agendas
  • PTSA Newsletter Reflections
  • Department Grants
  • The Evergreen Theater Project
  • School Dances
  • Staff Appreciation

The PASS THE HAT campaign is budgeted to generate $14,000 in funds to sustain the important programs for the 2010-2011 school year. Our goal is $17,000 so we can meet all the needs of the above programs.  Please join us in giving our students the best education possible and supporting their future.

Please contribute whatever you are able, from $10 to $1,000 or more! Many local employers will match funds made to non-profit organizations. Evergreen PTSA is a 501-C-3 non-profit organization and your donation is tax-deductible. Our tax ID number is 91-1176288.

Please make your check payable to Evergreen Junior High PTSA.  An envelope is provided, which may be returned with your student to the school office or sent via U.S. mail.  We would encourage you to make your contribution by Curriculum Night, September 23, 2010. Please contact me with questions and thank you in advance for your support.

2011-2012

Welcome Evergreen Junior High families to the 2011-2012 school year.  The Evergreen Junior High PTSA is looking forward to another great year!

The junior high years are an exciting time of growth and change for our students.  While our students continue to grow in their independence, it is important for us to realize they still need their parents' involvement in their lives and education.  One function of the PTSA is to help parents stay involved in meaningful ways that show our students their education is very important.  Through the Evergreen PTSA, many options are available to volunteer at school. We volunteer not to embarrass our children but because we care.  By our example we show kids the importance of community service and giving back.  We need volunteers during school hours, for school dances and to help with the ASB magazine drive, just to name a few.

A major purpose of PTSA is to help facilitate communication to our school community and in doing this for the 2011-2012 school year, we are trying to go as paper free as possible, so please put our website, http://www.evergreenptsa.org on your favorites.  You will find all board contact information will be there as well as agendas and minutes from each board meeting throughout the year. You will also get the latest edition of our PTSA newsletter, "The Eagle", all online this year. It contains information of the happenings at Evergreen.  Look for it this fall!

EJH PTSA appreciates the time you have to give as well as your generous donations.  We thank you for your continued support.  Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Kindest regards,
Deb Knauss and Kathy Nelson
Co-Presidents, PTSA
