Positions in this area work closely together with the VP of Advocacy.


Emergency Preparedness
The E-Prep chair is responsible for keeping our emergency supplies up to date in our storage container, as well as work with teachers to supply classroom emergency kits. Food and water is supplied by LWSD every 5 years. Last supply delivery was in fall 2022. Chair will also work with LWSD to donate old rations when new supplies are received and attend monthly EPrep meetings at LWPTSA council. Works 2-3 hours per month with spikes during supply restocking.

Special Education Chair
This chair acts as a liaison between the board of directors and the school SPED program. Chair will attend monthly LWPTSA SPED meetings and bring information back to the school and PTSA. May host a fair or other events that bring attention to SPED awareness. Use budgeted funds, with board permission, to support Special Education needs

Sustainability Chair
Work with EMS Green Team. Attend monthly LWPTSA Sustainability Meetings. Work with board and chairs to ensure sustainably practices at events. Work with VP Communication to share sustainability information on PTSA website, newsletter and/or Facebook. Use budgeted funds, with board permission, towards achieving sustainability goals.

The Diversity Equity and Inclusion chair works with the board and chairs to ensure equitable practices. Attends monthly LWPTSA DEI Meetings. Chair has a budget to use towards equity and inclusion events or support.

Reflections
Reflections chair(s) promote the Reflections contest and provide details and forms for participation to school community. Chair will set deadline for entries based on the District deadlines. Chair collects all entries and helps participants make sure their entries meet guidelines. Spelling Bee
Spelling Bee Chair will organize and promote the Scripts Spelling Bee program at EMS. This includes advertising in newsletter, website and FB, creating an Event Registration packet on PTSA website and managing signups. Chair will host practice sessions (virtual or in person), a preliminary bee and the final bee at EMS and coach the winner prior to regional bee. Requires 2-3 hours per week.

Theater Director
Work with vendor Studio East to run the afterschool theater program. Reserve RHS theater space in May/June of the year prior and have board members sign contract and pay deposit in August. Work with EMS office staff and board members to reserve building space with EMS office and board members for theater. Coordinate and recruit theater volunteers for make-up, costumes, chaperoning after-school rehearsals, gifts, concessions. Work with PTSA board to ensure contracts and payments are made to vendors and RHS.

Eagle Express Editor
Our weekly newsletter, the Eagle Express, is critical to getting information, from both PTSA and the school, to parents in our school. As the newsletter editor, you will 1) create, 2) solicit articles from the board, chairs, and school and 3) send out the newsletter each week. Work from home about 2-3 hours/week.

Concessions/ Eagle Pride
Coordinate PTSA volunteers for the concession table at the dances and for Eagle Pride Prize distribution. Monitor concession inventory and prize inventory, and purchase needed concession or Eagle Pride Prize items.
